The Challenge

Due to the increased skill shortage in the industry and quality bricklayers in the industry the challenges at Greatham was to introduce new building techniques to compensate whilst maintaining consistent quality and delivery the project to time.

Our solution

Working closely with Karbon Homes, the client was introduced to the benefits of a Insulated Concrete Framework (ICF) as a build system, highlighting; the speed of its application, eco efficiencies (a U-value of 0.22), ability to allow early access for internal trades, and its reduced reliance external trades (a paramount concern for the project).

Scope of work

36 New Build Homes including the installation of:

• External and internal structural walls construction from ICF
• Structural first floors
• Roof trusses
• Preformed dormers
• Roof Coverings
• External windows and doors
• External facade including brick slips and render
• Portico’s

The Results

The end results speak for themselves, with all 36 buildings blending seamlessly into the existing developments. Adding to this the project was delivered; before the programmed deadline, below the approved cost plan, at the targeted energy demand reduction , and with minimum disruption to local residents.
